Hells Canyon

The hidden slot canyon no one knows about.

Not to be confused with its neighbor – Hellhole Canyon – which is on the opposite side of the road, this lesser known hidden slot finds itself midway inside tiny Hells Canyon. What seems to be a lackluster beginning quickly fades once you navigate the sage brush tracks and drop down into the wash. Shortly, you will round the first major bend where you will find the hidden slot canyon. It isn’t lengthy, but it really offers some majestic photographic eye candy.

The Vortex

aka Cowboy Potty...a colorful bowl to discover.

When I first learned of this hike, it was commonly known as Cowboy Potty due to its large, spiraling bowl at top of the rocky route. It wasn’t until later I discovered through other sources it was also called The Vortex or The Bowl. Whatever the true name of the hike is not important. The experience you get is just that…important because it is worth hiking.
